Lulang Forest is a typical plateau-mountain-meadow, 15 km long and 1 km wide. The mountains on both sides boast various of plant species, such as bushes, spruces and pines, and in between is a reach of meadow. With the flower sea in the meadow and the Tibetan-featured houses around, the whole scenery is as beautiful as a fairyland that hasn’t been influenced by outside world at all. Yet Lulang is exactly such a magical place, which makes it a top tourist attraction in the world. It would be a wonderful experience to stay here for a few days.
Lulang Forest is located by the 318 National Road, between Bomi County and Nyingchi. It is 80 km from the Maitong Super Bridge and 45 km from Gala Village. With an altitude of 2,700 meters to 4,200 meters, the climate here is warm and semi-humid.
Lulang Forest is not only a forest, but is also a meadow, a pasture, as well as a place where local people live from generation to generation. This place boasts dense vegetation, rich variety of plants and beautiful wild flowers, showing different landscapes in different seasons.
Lulang Flower Sea is located between Lulang Town and Bayi Town, about 5 km away from the 318 National Road. It is an open natural pasture with an altitude of around 3,500 km. All kinds of flowers will be in full blossom between July and September. By that time, you will be enchanted by the flower scene and you won’t have the idea to go home. In spring, Lulang Forest is changing from white into green. The snow melts slowly as the temperature rises. More and more horses can be seen eating grass on the pasture, and wild flowers begin to bloom quietly. The snow-capped mountains in the distance are still shining under the sunshine. Smoke can be seen curling upward from the kitchen chimneys in local houses. The whole scenery looks so harmonious.
You can see an emerald green Lulang Forest in summer. Rhododendron also ushers in its own show time in June. It often rains in Lulang Forest in summer, yet it is in such situation that you are more likely to have the feeling that you are in Jiangnan (South of the Yangtze River) but not the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
You can see a colorful Lulang Forest in autumn. Because of the difference of altitude, when the shrubs at high altitudes have begun to turn into yellow and red, the meadow is still green. When it comes to November, you can see a most colorful Lulang Forest, which is just like a paradise only appears in fairy tale.
In winter, Lulang Forest will become a white world. Birds have already flew to southern places for food, and local people will mostly stay at home to keep warm. So Lulang Forest will be like a sleeping snow doll during this period. Those who like snow scenes can go to Nyingchi at this time to feel the tranquility of Lulang Forest.
