September is a perfect time to see a Nyingchi which is totally embraced by autumn. Once you miss this place in September, you will miss the whole autumn of Tibet. Average temperature during this period is about 18 degrees. Leaves on the trees begin to turn into yellow, the sky becomes dark blue, and water of the rivers and lakes also become purer. Because of the reduction of rainfall and cool weather, you are able to do a lot of activities in Nyingchi in September, especially trekking and having a picnic.
While October is the beginning of winter in other places in Tibet, it is the peak of autumn in Nyingchi. Average temperature during this period is about 14 degrees. With the snow-capped mountains and the blue sky being the background, rivers in the valleys are shimmering together with the golden leaves under the sunshine, making the place a fairy tale world. If you go to Nyingchi in October, you should bring sweaters and thermal coats to against the coldness in the morning and at nights.
