Mount Everest is 8844.43 meters above the sea level. It's the highest point in the mainland and the third pole in the world. The best location for viewing the Everest is the Everest Base Camp in Tibet, China, which is about 5,200 meters above the sea level.
The sightseeing area of Everest Base Camp is composed of the tent area of Everest Base Camp, the Rongbuk Monastery and other architectural areas. The altitude is about 5,200 meters, which is the altitude suitable for ordinary tourists to visit and even stay. The 5,200-meter monument of Mount Everest Base Camp is about 300 meters away from tent group of the base camp. In the same direction, the 8844.43-meter monument of Mount Everest is about 200 meters away from the 5,200-meter monument. These two monuments are newly built in the second half of 2017. If you travel to Everest Base Camp, don't forget to take photos with these two monuments on the background of Mount Everest.
There are two travel routes from Lhasa to Mount Everest, one of which is 318 National Road and Everest Road, and the other one needs to bypass the Nagarzê County when getting to the shore of Yamdrok Tso Lake. Visitors who go to the Everest Base Camp will generally choose the second route, because they can enjoy the beautiful Yamdrok Tso Lake.
After arriving in Lhasa, we will arrange at least three days for visitors to adjust to the altitude and climate of Tibet. The first three days of the tour will focus on the surrounding attractions in Lhasa, including the Potala Palace, Johkang Temple, Barkor Street, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery and so on. Then we will depart to the Shigatse via Yamdrok Tso Lake and stay in Shigatse for a night before proceeding to Everest Base Camp. This arrangement is conducive for tourists to alleviate the possible altitude sickness.
If the tourists do not have obvious altitude sickness in Lhasa at an altitude of 3,660 meters and Shigatse at an altitude of 3,800 meters, they can go to Everest Base Camp. Because whether you go to the Base Camp from Lhasa or Shigatse, the altitude changes are slower during the process of driving. There is a process that can be adapted. After arriving at the base camp, you should remember to walk slowly.
In Shigatse, Lhasa, if tourists already have obvious symptoms of altitude sickness such as headache, dizziness, heavy footsteps, etc, it is not recommended that you go to Everest Base Camp for sightseeing, you can give yourself some time to adjust. If the symptoms disappear, then you can be arranged for the travel to Everest Base Camp itinerary. If the symptoms have not been effectively alleviated, Everest Base Camp can only be a regret for your trip to Tibet. Don't rush to Everest Base Camp if you have severe symptoms of coldness and altitude sickness.

This arrangement allows visitors to have a process of adapting to the high altitude environment in the lower altitude areas. If you have altitude sickness on your way to Everest Base Camp, you can let the driver pause for a rest in the lower altitude area. If you have oxygen, you can breathe a little to ease. After arriving at the base camp, try to move less and rest as much as possible. The general symptoms can be relieved.
If you have obvious altitude sickness after arriving at Everest Base Camp, you can take anti-altitude drugs such as Gao Yuanan, etc, and drink plenty of water to help you ease the altitude sickness. Tibetan butter tea is said to be effective in alleviating the discomfort caused by altitude stress.
