Everest Base Camp is a kind of safety strip, set up to protect the environment of the core area of Mount Everest. It is at an altitude of 5200 meters and in a linear distance of about 19 kilometers from the summit of Mount Everest. Many tourists and mountaineers who want to get a glimpse of Mount Everest will camp here every peak tourist season.
Tourists to Everest Base Camp can choose Tingri County with better overnight accommodation. They can take a bus to the Base Camp to visit Mount Everest early in the morning. Then they leave the Base Camp on the same day, so as not to get accommodation in high altitude areas. But they also lose the opportunity to enjoy the sunset and sunrise of Mount Everest in the meantime. The best choice is to stay overnight at Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5200 meters if you want to enjoy the sunset and sunrise of Everest Base Camp. As for how to choose the best place to enjoy and photograph the sunrise and sunset of Everest Base Camp, please refer to the viewing and photographing guide of Everest Base Camp.
The accommodation of Everest Base Camp is mainly the tents hotel at the Base Camp and the hostel of Rongbuk Monastery, which are about 3 kilometers apart from each other.
The tents at Everest Base Camp are Tibetan tents pitched up by local Tibetans. In the middle of the tent is a stove for burning cow dung, with a tea table beside it. Tibetan beds are placed along the edge of the tent. Usually, a tent can accommodate 6 to 10 people at the same time, both males and females. The toilet of the tents hotel is in other areas a few meters away, so it is a challenge to go to the toilet in the tents area, especially on cold nights.
The tent can defend cold and keep warm. The stove for burning cow dung can provide adequate heating. Fires usually burn until midnight, and the temperature can be kept at about 20 degrees Celsius in the tent. Tibetan beds are provided with many cotton quilts, so you can choose the number of cotton quilts as needed when sleeping at night.
Food is provided at the tents hotel, usually Tibetan egg noodles and hot buttered tea. The water cannot be boiled due to the high altitude of the Base Camp, so the taste of food will suffer. You can bring your convenient snacks to eat and provide calories such as chocolate if worried about not getting used to the food at the Base Camp.

Given the situation, the tents hotel at the Base Camp is not open all year round. The time to pitch up tents and to evacuate them every year depends on the weather and the climate condition of the year.

The toilet at Rongbuk Monastery is an indoor toilet, but cold and with poor condition. Do not forget to carry a flashlight when getting accommodation at Everest Base Camp. It will be of many uses.
The hostel of Rongbuk Monastery also has a traditional method of heating. A stove for burning cow dung is an effective heating facility in high altitude areas. You can carry your warm sleeping bag to the Base Camp if you want to keep warm when sleeping at night.
Food provided at the hostel of Rongbuk Monastery is similar to that provided in the tents area because the difference in altitude between them is less than one hundred meters. The water still cannot be boiled, and lots of food cannot be cooked. So it is a luxury to enjoy fine food at Everest Base Camp.
Rongbuk Monastery is open all year round. You can still go to the Base Camp to visit Mount Everest during the evacuation of the tents at Everest Base Camp from November to April.
