The first step for Slovenian citizens to travel to Tibet is applying for a China visa in the consular office of China embassy in Ljubljana. Its address is Ob Ljubljanici 12, 1000 Ljubljana. Please note that the working time for the office is very short, which is 8:30 to 11:30 of every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. New applications could only be submitted before 11:00. The last 30 minutes is for successful applicants to pick up their China visas. The office is closed during public holidays.
Normally, it takes at least one week for your visa to be issued after submitting your application. The cost is 60 euros. If you extra 25 euros, you can get it in 2 working days, and extra 30 euros in 1 working day. However, the embassy suggests Slovenian citizens apply for the visa at least 1 month before the planned departure date.
When you get the China visa, it is time to send it to a local Tibet travel agency to apply for a Tibet Entry Permit for you.
Taking both time and money into account, it would be a sensible choice to fly to Beijing from Ljubljana first. You would spend around 330 USD and 16 hours for this flight trip, including a 4 hours and 25 minutes stopover in Moscow. And then you take either a flight or a train from Beijing to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. It would our pleasure if you ask us to arrange a Tibet tour for you.
The Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar are very popular tourist attractions in Tibet. For most tourists from Slovenia, April, May, June, September and October are the best five months for attending a Kailash Manasarovar tour. During this time, you could enjoy the continuous good weather and comfortable climates, and admire the most beautiful sceneries. Beside Mount Kailash, these five months are also the best time to see sunrise in the Mount Everest Base Camp.
If Slovenian tourists don’t have time to visit the Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar during these five months, July and August can be their second options. Although these two months are rainy season, the temperature is good for taking a tour and the sceneries are beautiful.
