If you are going to Nyingchi from Lhasa in June, no extra warm clothes is needed. You can just add a thin jacket to the long sleeves you wear in Lhasa.
Daytime average temperature: 21°C, light cotton or linen clothes such as sports T-shirts/pants, jeans, light jackets, etc. are recommended.
Nighttime average temperature: 10°C, warm clothes such as wind breakers, sweaters, leather jackets, down jackets, hats, gloves, etc. are recommended.
The summer (June-August) precipitation in Nyingchi is more than other areas in Tibet. When the summer monsoon arrives, all Nyingchi is in a mist, which makes you feel like lost in clouds. You may may not even realize you are on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau until you see the local Tibetans’ smiley faces. In the summer, it is recommended to go to Lhasa and then travel along the Lalin highway to enter Nyingchi.
On the way from Lhasa to Nyingchi, you need to cross over some mountains of high altitudes and a low temperature. Since the temperature difference between day and night in Tibet is large, even in June and July, warm clothes such as down jackets and sweaters are needed. In addition, the ultraviolet is very strong all over the Tibetan Plateau, so sunglasses, sunscreen and hats are also necessary for sun protection.
