In Tibet, such scenery that a mountain reflects a lake and the lake sets off the mountain to advantage is very common. And Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar are one of the outstanding examples.

Notes: The amount of people to Mount Kailash in the Year of Horse of Tibetan calendar is much more than in other years. And the procedure to apply for a Border Permit in the Year of Horse will be stricter. Therefore, if you plan to go to Mount Kailash in the Year of Horse, please offer us your itinerary half a year in advance, so that we can apply for your Border Permit more easily. The last Year of Horse was 2014, so the next Year of Horse will be 2026.

Required documents for foreigners who enter Tibet from mainland China: Chinese Visa: Except for those who come from China's visa exemption countries, foreigners from other countries will need a Chinese visa to prove their identities when they enter Tibet. According to the purpose of entering China, Chinese visa can be divided into the following types: Tourism visa, Dependents visa, and Business visa, etc. A visa for a trip to Mount Kailash is mostly the Tourism visa.

Driver's license: Chinese tourists who go to EBC through self-driving are required to offer their driver's license and vehicle license.

How do foreigners apply for a group visa ?

All foreigners who enter Tibet from Nepal are required to apply for a group visa in the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. (For those who want to apply for a private visa, they will need to enter Tibet from mainland China.)

The days when foreigners can apply for a group visa in the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu include Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. There are three kinds of services for foreigners to apply for a group visa: service for normal needs (you can get your visa within 3 days), service for urgent needs (you can get your visa within 2 days), and services for especially urgent needs (you can get your visa within 1 days).

The group visa is a one-time visa. The validity period is determined according to your itinerary. The maximum is 30 days. If you want to go to other cities in China after traveling in Tibet, you need to take all the itineraries in China into consideration while applying for the group visa.

How to apply for a Tibet Travel Permit ?

Required documents to apply for a Tibet Travel Permit: scanned copies of your passport and Chinese visa, your telephone number, and your itinerary. We will apply for your Tibet Travel Permit once you have sent us the above documents and information.

Foreigners can apply for a Tourism Visa. And overseas Chinese can apply for a Dependents Visa. You need to submit an invitation letter to travel agencies when you apply for the above two kinds of visas. If you want to apply for a Business Visa or Study Visa, you need to offer your certificate of employment or your enrollment certificate.

How to apply for an Alien’s Travel Permit ?

Alien’s Travel Permit is a special document issued by public security organ for foreigners who want to travel to non-open areas in Tibet, which include EBC, Mount Kailash, and Lake Manasarovar, etc. If you want to go to those places, you will need an Alien’s Travel Permit in addition to your Chinese visa and Tibet Travel Permit.
