Hongyuan County is a county in the north of Sichuan Province, China. It is under the administration of the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. There is a river called Kachu in the area and khok means "valley" or "area"; thus it means the area of the Kachu River.
This is the only county under the Prefecture with entirely yak herding pastoralists. The average altitude above the sea level is 3,600 m. The county is abundant in forestry and mineral resources. It takes 2 hours and 15 minutes flying from Hongyuan to Lhasa.

Hongyuan Airport
Hongyuan Airport (IATA: AHJ, ICAO: ZUHY) is an airport serving Hongyuan County in Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan province, China. It is located 48 kilometres (30 mi) southwest of the county seat, and 128 kilometres (80 mi) from Barkam, the prefecture capital. Construction started in July 2012, and the airport was opened on 28 August 2014. Hongyuan is a high-altitude airport, situated 3,535 metres (11,598 ft) above sea level.
Lhasa Gonggar Airport:
Lhasa Gonggar Airport (IATA: LXA, ICAO: ZULS) is in Jiazhulin Town in Gonggar County, Shannan District, Tibet Autonomous Region. It is located on the south bank of the magnificent Yalu Tsangpo River at an altitude of 3,600 meters. It is one of the highest civil airports in the world. The Gonggar Airport covers a smaller area and operates fewer flights than most airports in the world. And there is only one terminal building with one entrance and one exit in the Gongga Airport. The shuttle bus, bound for the Civil Aviation Bureau at the foot of the Potala Palace, is parked only 5 meters from the exit. The ticket fare is only 30 yuan.
