Golmud is a county-level city in Qinghai Province, China, bordering Xinjiang to the northwest and the Tibet Autonomous Region to the southwest. Administrated by Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, it is the second largest city in Qinghai and the third largest in the Tibetan Plateau (after Xining and Lhasa). The population is now about 205,700. The name of the city derives from Mongolian, and its literal meaning in the local Western Mongolian is "Rivers". It features many unique natural landscapes and is listed as one of China’s outstanding tourist cities.

Golmud Airport
Golmud Airport (IATA: GOQ, ICAO: ZLGM) is a dual-use military and civil airport serving Golmud, Qinghai province, China. At an elevation of 2842 meters, the airport boasts one of the longest runways in China - 4800 meters long.
Passengers can take shuttle bus or cab to the airport from the downtown areas.

Lhasa Gonggar Airport:
Lhasa Gonggar Airport (IATA: LXA, ICAO: ZULS) is in Jiazhulin Town in Gonggar County, Shannan District, Tibet Autonomous Region. It is located on the south bank of the magnificent Yalu Tsangpo River at an altitude of 3,600 meters. It is one of the highest civil airports in the world. The Gonggar Airport covers a smaller area and operates fewer flights than most airports in the world. And there is only one terminal building with one entrance and one exit in the Gongga Airport. The shuttle bus, bound for the Civil Aviation Bureau at the foot of the Potala Palace, is parked only 5 meters from the exit. The ticket fare is only 30 yuan.
